I had issues compiling PHP4 with IMAP support, Apache kept aborting on
configure.
Here's what worked for me:
get, unzip and untar the imap-2001.RELEASE.CANDIDATE.1
make slx (for Linux)
Then cd to PHP4*
rm config.cache
./configure --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql
--with-apache=/usr/local/apache_1.3.20 --enable-track-vars
--with-gd=/usr --with-png-dir=/usr --with-zlib-dir=/usr
--with-imap=/usr/include/imap-2001.RELEASE-CANDIDATE.1
make
make install
Then cd to apache_1.3.20
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache
--activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a
--activate-module=src/modules/auth_mysql/libauth_mysql.a
--enable-module=usertrack
This time it didn't crash.
This was after spending a lot of time with various paths in the PHP
configure for the --with-imap=xx option.
