As the author of said functions, I don't care whether they stay or go. I do
recognize that there are many ways to calculate when Easter is supposed to
be,
and I used what I thought was the most comprehensive formula I could find.
I tested it against several "When is easter?" websites, and my functions
seem to agree with all of them.
I too remember Jim saying he didn't they should stay, which I took to mean
that
they were going to be removed. But apparently they are still in.
So I'd say, either a) take them out of the core and someone can stick them
in
the calendar.so or some other file, b) leave them in and point out to people
how it works (I thought I made the docs pretty comprehensive, but I can cut
and paste the actual code into them), or c) someone can send me other
formulas,
and we can add a flag to determine which formula to use to calculate the
date.
But, like I said, I don't really care. It was mainly done on a whim, and I
have no burning desire for them (no pun intended).
