I am new to this mailing list. So bear with me if this issue has been
discussed earlier or if this is the wrtong place for this kind of a post.
When using PHP(4.0.6) as filter with Apache 2.0 (2.0.22) we noticed that the
CPU consumption of APACHE is very high even when no client requests are
being handled. Just doing a 'LoadModule' on php causes this problem. As
soon as the apache is started, 'top' reveals Apache's child processes
consuming the cpu heavily. This is not seen if we comment out the LoadModule
on php in httpd.conf .
