Bug Type: Feature/Change Request
Operating System: linux
PHP Version: 4.0
New Comment:
There isn't a one-letter param to turn off html_errors, however you can pass '-d
html_errors=0'. Another option is to set it in the php.ini file which is checked by the php
binary.

IIRC this is implemented (-s or something)... can someone confirm this?

php -q is a step in the right direction
but this only disables http headers,
not html markup in error messages
and php could be more clever when started
standalone (that is, if istty(stdin) is true
or certain environment variables are not set)

Try php -f or php -q. Is this what you are looking for? I often use it for systems programming.
