is CVS working?

I tried to use CVS to download a 'snapshot', but ran into
a problem. I followed the instructions at http://cvs.php.net/
| $ cvs -d :pserver:cvsread@cvs.php.net:/repository login
| (Logging in to cvsread@cvs.php.net)
| CVS password:
| cvs [login aborted]: recv() from server cvs.php.net: EOF
I used 'phpfi' as password.
This is my system:
| $ cat /etc/redhat-release
| Red Hat Linux release 6.0 (Hedwig)
| $ uname -srm
| Linux 2.2.5-15 i686
| $ cvs --version
| Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.10.5 (client/server)
Is this a know problem or is the CVS server down or something?
