hi,
what compiler are you using? i once had a problem compiling php using
gcc as a shared module with the oracle-libs ('cause oracle-libs are
compiled with SUNcc).
so please try compiling the php staticly into your apache.
also sending us the output of:
truss -p <PID of httpd "out of control">
could be kinda useful,
