What is the matter with doing this...

echo substr($string, 5);

echo substr($string, 0);

echo substr($string, 3, 5);

if you want to access a individual part of a string i think
it will be in zend2 with this syntax

$string "foo";
echo $string{2}; // will print 'o';

anyone correct me if im wrong
