The problem is just that OSX uses a modified gcc to support OpenStep and
Obj-C better, and it get's confused easily... Well, that and one name
conflict with the system library.
I have been maintaining a patched
version of php that compiles and runs fine on OSXS (I've been using it
daily for a few months), you can find the source and diff at
http://www.math.ohio-state.edu/~ccunning/php/.
If you'd be willing to
incorperate the changes I'd be very grateful, as quite a few people have
started using it and it's getting time consuming as they seem to want to
ask me questions rather than go through the normal support channels...
Let me know if you have any questions about why certain changes were made,
I make no claims that I've done what's best, but it's been working very
reliably for me.
