I'm having a strange problem with PHP sessions and IE 6.0. Cookie problem right? I turned on "always allow session cookies", and the browser _is_ getting the cookie and passing the PHPSESSID back just fine on each invocation. But, the session file does not get updated with new session information.
Right before the end of the script (just before PHP saves to the session file), I dump out $_SESSION to take a look:
print_r($_SESSION);
It shows the correct information, so this what should get written into the session file upon script termination right? Nope, when I open up the actual session file (/tmp/sess_some.long.session.id), the contents are not updated, instead it contains the session information from when the session file was created. Now the timestamp of the session file _does_ get updated on every invocation, so that tells me it is getting written to, but the new session data isn't getting into the file, it just writes back what was read in upon the session_start() function call. (I think?)
This seems to happen ONLY on IE 6.0. Earlier versions of IE, Netscape and Mozilla seem to work fine.
So my question: How can the session file get written to, and not write out the contents of the $_SESSION variable, but instead writes back out what it had loaded at the session_start() ? And only for IE 6.0?
I'm have attached a copy of the output of phpinfo();
