I don't understand your first two sentences, what do you mean with "silently fails"? The switching off via an image Content-Type header?

I could be wrong, but the patch submitted seems to have problem with when output exceeded chunk size. I need to read code to verfiy, but I don't have time for that now... -- Yasuo Ohgaki
