- pay Unisys to issue a license for using LZW gd in combination
with PHP only. They do seem to think positive about such
license schemes, but I'm not sure that Thomas will add GIF
support due to that. So:
- pay Unisys to issue a license for using LZW in gd
Other possibilities
- wait three years until the patent expires
- redistribute gd 1.2 from countries where they don't have a patent
on LZW
- add GIF support to gd 1.6 and redistribute it from countries
where they don't have a patent on LZW
