Wouldn't it be smarter to not promote the use of these tags? Weren't
they a request from someone used to programming in ASP? I realize this
makes PHP more flexible but these additions get away from making PHP
"better", it's just the same way to do something, it's not a new
"feature". People may start using the ASP style, then say "Can you add
this ASP-style syntax also? And This?" Then PHP turns also into a
dual-syntax language, and parser people waste time supporting other
syntax. I think this is different then incorporating functions or
features from other languages. I think that it might be better in the
long run to move toward the XML direction and that style of tags, I mean
it might be better to float in the <?php ?> XML (standard) syntax as
opposed to the MS style (non-standard). Can you even process ASP and PHP
in the same script? I don't understand why people would want this
anyway. If it is another FrontPage workaround, <script language="PHP">
should be enough, or just use Homesite!
Just my 2 cents.
