hi,
i'm proud to announce that ext/rpc is now considered to be working
beside the few things that are still missing due to not finished parts
of the engine. ext/rpc is an abstraction layer between the ZendEngine2
and a rpc layer. it does lots of work for you like reference counting,
instance pooling (persistant instances), real singletons (only one
instance will be (re)used), hashing of possible slow method lookups,
etc.
doing this once should decrease the single points of failure to a
minimum and thus make php more stable in this critical and yet not very
stable area. as an example application the ZE1 com extension was proted
to use the abstraction layer and works under ZE2 now (still not well
tested, but the basic stuff works). java and srm will follow soon.
regards,
harald
