+1 on the php.ini setting, as then on a machine by machine basis you could
define (based on the connection speed / system setup) what stream timeout
to initalise at.
Personally I have a fast internet connection and would prefer the timeout
to be low... but I also have the same ISDN issues at another location
where I would want the timeout to be higher (30 seconds is usually about
right).
