Script dumps variable contents

I'm noticing a strange behaviour with current HEAD and a script I use to render DocBook/XML to HTML and apply syntax-highlighting to PHP listings in the rendered HTML. The script in question can be found here http://www.sebastian-bergmann.de/build.txt It has not been changed in quite a while and worked as intended before. The bug seems to be introduced somewhen between August, 20th and 22nd, as a PHP CLI binary built from cvs -z9 upd -D 2002-08-20 works fine, but cvs -z9 upd -D 2002-08-22 dumps http://www.sebastian-bergmann.de/build.out instead of writing it back to HTML file it read the plain-text listing from.
