While attempting the solution I discovered that the config script fault was mine -- the bison that sh found was a much older version. After upgrading bison to 1.25 the out-of-the-box configure worked. Unfortunately it made no difference to the compilation error, ie. the program still fails with the same error :-( On 22 Jul 1999, Bug Database wrote: >ID: 1818 >Updated by: ssb >Reported By: toivo@usf.edu >Status: Open >Bug Type: Compile Failure >Assigned To: >Comments: > >Try changing the bison version test in configure.in.in >(around line 80) to this and let me know if it fixes the >bison problem: > >if test "$YACC" != "bison -y"; then > AC_MSG_WARN(You will need bison if you want to regenerate the PHP parsers.) >else > AC_MSG_CHECKING(bison version) > oldIFS=$IFS; IFS=. > set bison -V | sed -e 's/^GNU Bison version //' > IFS=$oldIFS > if test "$1" = "1" -a "$2" -lt "25"; then > AC_MSG_WARN(Bison 1.25 or newer needed to regenerate parsers (found $1.$2).) > fi > AC_MSG_RESULT($1.$2 (ok)) >fi > > >Full Bug description available at: >http://bugs.php.net/version4/?id=1818 > -------------------------------------------------------- Toivo Voll | toivo@usf.edu | University of South Florida 4202 East Fowler Avenue, SVC4010, Tampa, FL 33620 -------------------------------------------------------- Have you noticed the way people's intelligence capabilities decline sharply the minute they start waving guns around? -- Dr. Who
