I hope this helps to debug php4 a little bit. Since I truly believe php is a great language and a wonderful gift to the open source community and programmers in general. (Please note I am not on this mailing list due to being already overwhelmed with my normal few hundred E-mails a day *G* ) Stack trace from gdb for apache with -X -f /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: #0 0x400f1a70 in _IO_new_fclose (fp=0x80fbcd8) at iofclose.c:45 #1 0x4024fe95 in zend_open_file_dtor (f=0x80e54d0) at zend-scanner.l:175 #2 0x40258419 in zend_llist_del_element (l=0x402a8cc8, element=0xbfffbcf8) at zend_llist.c:83 #3 0x4024feac in zend_close_file_handle (file_handle=0xbfffbcf0) at zend-scanner.l:185 #4 0x40250003 in v_compile_files (mark_as_ref=1, file_count=1, files=0xbfffbcd0) at zend-scanner.l:288 #5 0x4024ff66 in compile_files (mark_as_ref=1, file_count=1) at zend-scanner.l:257 #6 0x402500d4 in compile_filename (filename=0x40384048) at zend-scanner.l:330 #7 0x40265a29 in execute (op_array=0x80e3d38) at zend_execute.c:1716 #8 0x40225f27 in php_execute_script (primary_file=0xbffffadc) at main.c:1121 #9 0x40225fb0 in apache_php_module_main (r=0x80dd46c, fd=19, display_source_mode=0) at main.c:1163 #10 0x402244a4 in send_php () #11 0x402244e0 in send_parsed_php () #12 0x80517e1 in ap_invoke_handler () #13 0x805e28b in ap_some_auth_required () #14 0x805e2db in ap_process_request () #15 0x8058c88 in ap_child_terminate () #16 0x8058dbf in ap_child_terminate () #17 0x8058eb9 in ap_child_terminate () #18 0x8059368 in ap_child_terminate () #19 0x8059920 in main () #20 0x400b8cb3 in __libc_start_main (main=0x80596e0 <main>, argc=4, argv=0xbffffcb4, init=0x804da1c <_init>, fini=0x8065a8c <_fini>, rtld_fini=0x4000a350 <_dl_fini>, stack_end=0xbffffcac) at ../sysdeps/generic/libc-start.c:78 This looks like to me that in a fclose it is segfaulting. The apache is the rpm that comes with redhat 6.0 the rpm for php 4.0 is available for download in both i386 and src form from: ftp://ftp.islenet.org/pub/linux/RPMS/i386/mod_php4-4.0b1-1.i386.rpm ftp://ftp.islenet.org/pub/linux/SRPMS/mod_php4-4.0b1-1.src.rpm Thanks for any input the new Zend backend looks like it will be great! btw: The php code that is causing this is a keystone version 0_60_01 available from www.stonekeep.com. This uses MySQL 3.22.23b which has an rpm available at the same site above. I didn't have a problem with this code in php3.0.11 which also has an rpm for rh 6 on my ftp site. Thanks, Leif Jackson p.s. php is the best thing I think to come to web programming, it rocks. +-------------------------------------------------------+ | Jackson Consulting & Isle of Avalon Networks | | Programmer && Linux Enthusiast http://www.islenet.org | | "Linux is NT's ultimate Service pack" - Adam Wright | +-------------------------------------------------------+ PGP Key fingerprint = 6A B4 B3 F2 4B 78 64 EA 2B A7 23 98 AF EA EE 29 http://isle.comstar.net/~leif/pgpkeys.html for the full key.
