From: gerdts@cae.wisc.edu Operating system: Solaris 2.6 PHP version: 4.0 Latest CVS (03/08/1999) PHP Bug Type: Compile Failure Bug description: -rdynamic not detected with Sun's C compiler When configure is run, config.log reveals the following: configure:2474: checking if compiler supports -rdynamic configure:2489: cc -o conftest -g conftest.c -rdynamic 1>&5 cc: Warning: illegal option -dynamic configure:2509: checking if compiler supports -rdynamic really configure:2531: checking for sendmail configure:2580: checking for gethostname in -lnsl configure:2599: cc -o conftest -g -rdynamic conftest.c -lnsl 1>&5 cc: Warning: illegal option -dynamic configure:2626: checking for socket in -lc configure:2645: cc -o conftest -g -rdynamic conftest.c -lc -lnsl 1>&5 cc: Warning: illegal option -dynamic configure:2713: checking for gethostbyaddr in -lc configure:2732: cc -o conftest -g -rdynamic conftest.c -lc -lnsl 1>&5 cc: Warning: illegal option -dynamic configure:2800: checking for crypt in -lc ... When cc is called with an unknown argument, it gives a warning and passes that argument on to ld. The exit value of cc is 0, but the "executable" created is not executable. It seems as though the "checking if compiler supports -rdynamic really" test should figure it out, but it is only doing cc -c -rdynamic conftest.c What it should try to do is cc -o conftest -rdynamic conftest.c ./conftest
