If this is php4 beta 1, you're probably running into the segfault in
imap_header that was preventing IMP from working properly. This is fixed in
the latest php4 cvs, so you might have better luck with that. But no one has
had time to test IMP thoroughly against php4 yet, so just report errors to
the IMP list instead of assuming that they are bugs in php...
