Zeev,
I wrote a small C test program on the box, and strtol() is working
correctly. I seem to remember that the problem is not present on an old
server with PHP3.0 that I had running.
I will run some more tests at my end - I'll create a stripped down server
with just PHP3.0.3 and the minimum necessary to get apache to work, and
see if the problem is still there. I'll also confirm my suspicion that it
worked with PHP3.0, just as soon as I have time... :-)
Are there any other things that you would like me to do (like insert a
quick debugging patch)? Unfortunately, I cannot give you access to the
box...
Do the internals actually keep track of the type of the keys to
associative arrays, or do you have rules for deciding what type the keys
should have by looking at them?

Chris.
