JFYI the behavior is that way since PHP-5.4.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2014-07-07 07:47:58] mike@php.net Control is more fine grained now; you need to add PHP_OUTPUT_HANDLER_REMOVABLE to be able to pop it off the stack: ob_start(null, 0, PHP_OUTPUT_HANDLER_CLEANABLE | PHP_OUTPUT_HANDLER_REMOVABLE); Or if flushing is also allowed (good idea), you can use PHP_OUTPUT_HANDLER_STDFLAGS, which includes all three capabilities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2014-07-07 05:26:43] yohgaki@php.net Verified on my Fedora 20 with PHP 5.5.14.
