Description:

---
From manual page: http://www.php.net/intro.json
---
This page of your docs contains the following note:
> Note:
> PHP implements a superset of JSON - it will also encode and decode scalar types and NULL. The
> JSON standard only supports these values when they are nested inside an array or an object.
This statement regarding the JSON standard is inaccurate as of RFC 7159
(https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7159 ):
> Appendix A. Changes from RFC 4627
> [...]
> o Changed the definition of "JSON text" so that it can be any JSON
> value, removing the constraint that it be an object or array.
