Edit report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=65048&edit=1 ID: 65048 Updated by: cmb@php.net Reported by: ddpm at liscovius dot de Summary: [DE] Wrong description of return values in German Documentation -Status: Verified +Status: Closed Type: Documentation Problem Package: Translation problem Operating System: all PHP Version: 5.5.0RC3 -Assigned To: +Assigned To: cmb Block user comment: N Private report: N New Comment: > The German translation, however, has to be fixed. Actually, it seems to have already been fixed: | […] und Mikrosekunden die Anzahl an Mikrosekunden misst, die | seit Sekunden vergangen sind, was ebenso in Sekunden ausgedrückt | wird. Hence, I'm closing this ticket. Nevertheless, thank you for the report, and for helping us make PHP.net better. :) Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2016-06-14 15:22:34] cmb@php.net The English manual page has been improved in the meantime; the relevant clause is now: | and msec measures microseconds that have elapsed since sec and | is also expressed in seconds. IMO, that's good enough. :) The German translation, however, has to be fixed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2013-06-17 14:20:36] ddpm at liscovius dot de Description: ------------ --- From manual page: http://www.php.net/function.microtime#refsect1-function.microtime-returnvalues --- <?php echo microtime(); ?> 0.84538700 1371477251 Both values are returned as seconds when the function is called without parameters. The 1st part are the decimal place, the 2nd part is the integer part. Contrary to current documentation: ".. ist und Mikrosekunden die Anzahl an Mikrosekunden ist, die seit Sekunden vergangen sind." If you follow the german documentation, the expected functions return output would be 845387 1371477251, which isn't what microtime() returns. So fix the german documentation please and rewrite the english part too, because "By default, microtime() returns a string in the form "msec sec", where sec is the current time measured in the number of seconds since the Unix epoch (0:00:00 January 1, 1970 GMT), and msec is the number of microseconds that have elapsed since sec expressed in seconds. " is misleading until the you <b>read the last 3 words carefully</b> in the whole paragraph! Test script: --------------- <?php echo microtime(); ?> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=65048&edit=1
