From manual page: http://www.php.net/function.exit
In the german version of this page, the following note is wrong:
"Hinweis: Falls status eine Ganzzahl ist, wird er von PHP >= 4.2.0 NICHT ausgegeben."
The english version of the page is correct. This note is not appearing there.
