The -> operator is informally introduced in the section about
properties[1], but is already used in the previous section. There
is certainly room for improvement.

The PHP manual does not document the -> symbol. The "List of Parser Tokens" page lists
it as T_OBJECT_OPERATOR, but that's not friendly enough for a beginner. Could we have a section
in the documentation explaining what it is and its purpose?
