This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.

You need to copy the memcache source from pecl into the php-src/ext/
directory and then buildconf for the --enable-memcache option working.

"In order to use these functions you must compile PHP with Memcache
support by using the --enable-memcache[=DIR] option. You may optionally
disable memcache session handler support by specifying

This is not true, when compiling with

Simply installing it via pecl is all you need.
