Operating system:
PHP version: Irrelevant
PHP Bug Type: Documentation problem
Bug description: mysql_unbuffered_query Description misleading.
Description:
------------
The manual states the following:
"On the one hand, this saves a considerable amount of memory with SQL
queries that produce large result sets. On the other hand, you can start
working on the result set immediately after the first row has been
retrieved:"
The problem is that both "this saves a considerable amount of memory" and
"you can start working on the result set immediately" are both good things.
In English grammar, the use of "on the one hand...on the other..."
indicates two opposite points. For more information on this English
grammatical construction, you can check out this link:
http://books.google.com/books?id=ygyFbU8h4BUC&lpg=PA153&ots=i7iduHFK82&dq=%22one%20hand%22%20%22other%20hand%22&pg=PA153#v=onepage&q=&f=false
Reproduce code:
---------------
---
From manual page: function.mysql-unbuffered-query#Description
---
Expected result:
----------------
I suggest the paragraph should be changed to something like the
following:
"This saves a considerable amount of memory with SQL queries that produce
large result sets, and you can start working on the result set immediately
after the first row has been retrieved:"
