Edit report at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=52217&edit=1 ID: 52217 Updated by: rquadling@php.net Reported by: php_bugs at m-h-it dot de Summary: API manual for SOAP misses detail information for returned values Status: Closed Type: Documentation Problem Package: Documentation problem Operating System: irrellevant PHP Version: Irrelevant Assigned To: rquadling New Comment: In a few hours the documentation will be updated. The "value" of the return will vary from service to service (obviously), the "format" though will be constant. Method signatures for __getFunctions() and SOAP type declarations for __getTypes(). The examples have been updated. Please see the svn commit http://svn.php.net/viewvc/?view=revision&revision=300897 Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2010-07-01 11:42:29] php_bugs at m-h-it dot de Are you sure? Please note: I'm not talking about _which_functions_ are returned, but how a single item in the returned array looks like. From a test i see that e.g. __getFunctions() returns something like: array( 0 => 'LoginCustomerResponse loginCustomer(LoginCustomer $loginCustomer)', 1 => ... So each entry seems to be a string with a function signature. Now you say, this can be something else but a string, depending on the service? If that's the case, it would be nice to have that documented to avoid confusion. I'm trying to build a WSDL parser. If the output of the mentioned methods can vary, they are quite useless. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2010-07-01 11:16:16] rquadling@php.net The _exact_ output is dependent upon the service. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2010-07-01 11:15:37] rquadling@php.net Automatic comment from SVN on behalf of rquadling Revision: http://svn.php.net/viewvc/?view=revision&revision=300897 Log: Improve example for SoapClient::__getFunctions() & SoapClient::__getTypes(). Fix bug #52217 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2010-07-01 09:34:13] php_bugs at m-h-it dot de Description: ------------ I'm missing detailed information, what _exactly_ is returned from these methods: http://de2.php.net/manual/en/soapclient.gettypes.php http://de2.php.net/manual/en/soapclient.getfunctions.php Documentation states for the latter: "Returns a list of available SOAP functions". What type are the elements of this list? Functions? Strings with function names? Other arrays with more detailed function descriptions? Completing the useless examples (var_dump(..)) and also showing example output of that command would help a lot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=52217&edit=1
