And it's also worth mentioning that this was discussed on the internals

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
Thank you for the report, and for helping us make our documentation
better.

Log: Fixed bug #51924 (Missing MySQL datetime format in list of valid
formats)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2010-05-26 17:19:48] george at providentdata dot com
Description:
------------
The page:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/datetime.formats.compound.php
lists datetime formats that are accepted by eg. strtotime() and such.
These functions accept the MySQL datetime format:
YY "-" MM "-" DD " " HH ":" II ":" SS
but the format isn't listed.
Closest formats listed are EXIF:
YY ":" MM ":" DD " " HH ":" II ":" SS
and WDDX:
YY "-" mm "-" dd "T" hh ":" ii ":" ss
neither of whose format strings match MySQL.
