New Comment:
I rewrote parts of the book intro to make it more clear in some places,
I even questioned myself on a few of the parts, hope this will make it
more clear.

Log: Fixed bug #52714 (Intro to HTTP subsystem unclear)

Description:
------------
http://php.he.net/manual/en/intro.http.php:
the intro to the "HTTP"
package is
unclear; specifically, there's HTTP that called the PHP script in the
first
place (incoming), then there's HTTP requests that the script can in turn
do
before the script returns (outgoing). Does it concern both? or just
outgoing?
"powerful set of functionality for one of PHPs major applications" -
that says
to me, the incoming HTTP that called the script to build a web page.
That's the
major application of PHP. But, I think the package does very little for
that,
right?
"It eases handling of HTTP URLs, dates, redirects, headers and
messages," = both
incoming and outgoing.
" provides means for negotiation of clients preferred language and
charset" =
incoming
"a convenient way to send any arbitrary data with caching and resuming
capabilities." => 'send' - do you mean, send as a reply to the incoming
request,
or send as the data for an outgoing request?
"It provides powerful request functionality, if built with CURL
support." =
outgoing.
OK, so if I rolled up my sleeves and read some of it i'd get my answer,
but the
Intro is supposed to answer big questions like that. And this intro
leaves me
confused.
Thanks, I know docs are hard work, I do a lot of it myself.
