Summary: Is there a difference between fsockopen and
sfsockopen stream_socket_client ???
Status: Bogus
Type: Documentation Problem
Package: Documentation problem
Operating System: all
PHP Version: Irrelevant

New Comment:
No, it does not "imply a bug in PHP itself",
isn't that why it says:
Package: Documentation problem
a difference i see is that stream_socket_client() is only available
since php5.
stream_socket_client() - optional flags( conn.type: normal, async or
persistent).
stream_socket_client() - no extra port-parameter, can be set in first
param.
fsockopen() - seems to not support ssl in some cases

Sorry, but your problem does not imply a bug in PHP itself. For a
list of more appropriate places to ask for help using PHP, please
visit http://www.php.net/support.php as this bug system
is not the
appropriate forum for asking support questions. Due to the volume
of reports we can not explain in detail here why your report is not
a bug. The support channels will be able to provide an explanation
for you.
Thank you for your interest in PHP.
At first sight, they accept different parameters. Both of them can be
used for some tasks but they are not synonyms for sure.
