Sorry, I've tried to stop myself writing this, but couldn't resist.
Maybe PHP is trying to fit into the Windows ethos. Where
everything just keeps getting bloated, registry, pagefile, temporary
folders, various caches, kernel, OS, gui scripts etc. etc..
