Edit report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=55584&edit=1 ID: 55584 User updated by: chris-php dot net-110905 at aptivate dot org Reported by: chris-php dot net-110905 at aptivate dot org Summary: Please add expires and last-modified support to online documentation Status: Open Type: Documentation Problem Package: Documentation problem PHP Version: Irrelevant Block user comment: N Private report: N New Comment: Thanks, that helps, but I really would like websites to properly implement this so that ISP-level and organisation-level caches actually work, and end users don't have to worry about it, or download multiple copies of the entire documentation just to get a few pages. Bandwidth may be cheap for you, but it's very expensive for us! Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2011-09-05 10:25:26] rquadling@php.net The documentation is downloadable (http://www.php.net/download-docs.php) in multiple forms. The entire manual is generated on a weekly basis. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2011-09-05 10:19:28] chris-php dot net-110905 at aptivate dot org Description: ------------ I'm having problems accessing the website from Zambia; pages load very slowly even though they have not changed. The online documentation is not cacheable because the server always returns a new page response, with no etag, regardless of the last-modified date sent by the client. Please could you send and check the last-modified header, and also preferably set a reasonable Expires header, e.g. a month? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=55584&edit=1
