Edit report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=62286&edit=1 ID: 62286 Updated by: krakjoe@php.net Reported by: randallfstewart at gmail dot com Summary: Description of variable_name parameter -Status: Open +Status: Not a bug Type: Documentation Problem Package: Documentation problem Operating System: Windows PHP Version: 5.3.13 Block user comment: N Private report: N New Comment: Sorry, but your problem does not imply a bug in PHP itself. For a list of more appropriate places to ask for help using PHP, please visit http://www.php.net/support.php as this bug system is not the appropriate forum for asking support questions. Due to the volume of reports we can not explain in detail here why your report is not a bug. The support channels will be able to provide an explanation for you. Thank you for your interest in PHP. The documentation is correct, an element of an array is itself a variable, regardless of reference. Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2012-06-10 18:29:50] randallfstewart at gmail dot com Description: ------------ --- From manual page: http://www.php.net/function.filter-input#refsect1-function.filter-input-parameters --- Documentation suggestion: 1. This parameter doesn't really seem to be the "variable name" as stated by the documentation. Wouldn't the variable name be "$_POST['key']" (or something similar)? 2. It seems that this parameter is really the KEY to the entry of the superglobal array (specified by the "type" parameter) that is to be filtered. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=62286&edit=1
