I can't yet speak specifically to how this all relates to Fedora but we've been slowly thinking about our license. The current (OPL[1]) is defunct so we're looking for one that'll stick around and meet our needs. We've narrowed it down (through casual chat) to the following choices: GNU Free Documentation License: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.html Creative Commons: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ We'd revise it, but: http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-doc-license.html
Thanks for the useful input Philip. From a Fedora point of view, I believe all of the above would be OK. They all have the key distinction from the current license of not restricting modification. So it would be great if you did choose to move to one of the above. I understand this may only be at an informal discussion stage, but do you have any sense of when you might, if you do, look at changing license? (e.g. a particular milestone e.g. PHP6, or a sense - even broad - as in next month/quarter/year)? Thanks for all your help, Tim
