Hi Egon,
first I have to say, that I haven't deleted an translated information,
because the <lang>/reference/*/functions.xml files just include entities.
But just look back in history:
The inital reason for the file-split was to get automatically all not (yet)
translated functions into the translated manuals (which wasn't the case, if
a file in e.g. de existed, but didn't include all functions, like was - and
unfortunately is - in eg domxml-functions or image-functions - just compare
the TOCs:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.domxml.php
[71 functions] with
http://www.php.net/manual/de/ref.domxml.php [
3 functions, which don't exist
in the en-manual anymore, 71 functions are missing just in this section]).
So the easiest way to get the translated functions as well as the missing
functions (from the en-tree) into the translated manual, is to delete all
<transl-lang>/reference/*/functions.xml - files (= the entities for the
function-files). Then the build system takes all functions from
<transl-lang>
and all other files from <en>.
Since we in <de> have still a view files, which aren't in the en-tree
anymore
(see the 3 above), we would lose them, but on the other hand they shouldn't
be
in the manual anymore, as the en-tree is the master.
Careful as I am, I have posted the question "how to handle such files" (e.g.
ignore them, or write a script which merges the entities) on Tuesday as a
reply
to Gobas question about this "functions.xml"-item, but nobody replied.
So I still didn't do what was intended and decided initially (to delete all
the functions.xml's in the translated langs), but I did it just in the dirs
which
are maintained by me (there is nothing missing; -> as a start until the
phpdoc-group starts communicating and deciding again).
If we do it for the whole de-dir, we get 100+ functions more documented in
the
de-manual, need less HD-space, less cvs-traffic, etc.
I hope that this explanation is now better understandable than my question
from
Tuesday, and we can agree on a common basis on this item (esp. the above
exception,
which at leased I recognized after the decision to have only one
functions.xml,
and that in the en-tree).
Thomas
