max/min docs - and beyond

Hello all,
For example, max/min can take on either:
a) an array
b) multiple string/int/floats
max() and min() currently document this differently.
The question is, which method is preferred in phpdoc?
Or is there a new method? I prefer showing mixed, and
explaning why. As opposed to using two different
methodsynopsis tags.
