Error with configure.in?

There seemed to be sth wrong with the php version checking. I've got
following error when I run configure:
checking for php... ../phpdoc-tools/php.bat
checking php version... test: =: argument expected
4.2.1
configure: error: PHP version 4.0.0 or newer needed
Is the version of 4.2.1 supported??
