Hi,
some changes in our HTTP setup have caused some issues to
become more visible:
- revcheck.html.gz exists, but revcheck.html does not. This
neglects clients which don't understand the gzip encoding.
- once that is addressed, all links to the .gz version need
to be replaced through links to the .html version. The
HTTP server takes care of sending the optimal version
automatically.
Thanks for your assistance,
- Sascha

What about user agents which don't handle deflated documents?
Tux supports the simplest form of content negotiation[1]:
If foo.html and foo.html.gz exists, and if the user agent
indicated that it supports gzip deflating, Tux will serve
foo.html.gz with the proper HTTP headers.
