I am not sure I follow. What exactly is the problem? That tag is perfectly valid DocBook XML, see the documentation at: (the old on-line book) http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/documentation/reference/html/emphasis.html (the book under develpopment) http://www.docbook.org/tdg/en/html/emphasis.html Also, why are you reading the XML straight with a web browser? Did you specify an XSLT for it to be transformed?
