I think the attribute should be "multiple". As you can see in the HTML
specification [
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/interact/forms.html#edef-SELECT
], the
only valid attribute is 'multiple'. X(HT)ML doesn't change this, you
just need to specify it.
