Restoring all the files will create lots of confusion, because I think they were many. Just add a note saying that the function was preveously named xxx. And has he name of the functions are exactly the name, excluding the _, people will find the new funtions easily.
No, they will not find ocilogon(), because now it's called oci_connect(). And there are some more similar examples. But I agree, this looks like the best way to do it.
A more problematic question is how people using PHP 4 for a long time find the old functions... Goba
