This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.

The online documentation for pg_client_encoding() at
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.pg-client-encoding.php
contains
the sentence
"If libpq is compiled without multibyte encoding support,
pg_set_client_encoding() always return "SQL_ASCII"."
It should be:
"If libpq is compiled without multibyte encoding support,
pg_client_encoding() always returns "SQL_ASCII"."
