I don't recall removing the optimization section. I just double checked my CVS commit, but don't see any change there, can you point me to what you're looking at?

The docs are built "once in a while", if you feel like these changes are _really_ important I bet you can convince Derick to rebuild them..

These changes are still only in the CVS version of APC, so I would say it's only somewhat important. Any way for me to know when the docs have been rebuilt?
