RELEASE: PHPDocumentor Beta, automatic documentation project

April 13, 2002 ANNOUNCEMENT PHPDocumentor Beta 0.4.0 RELEASE http://www.phpdoc.org The development team at http://www.phpdoc.org would like to announce the release of PHPDocumentor Beta 0.4.0. This program is the first fully-functional automatic documentor for PHP written in PHP. There are a few other automatic documentors, but most either do not properly document a majority of valid PHP files, or are front-end converters to other documentors like JavaDoc. PHPDocumentor features: * close compliance to the JavaDoc protocol, will be very familiar to Java developers * simple, easy-to-design templates allowing for flexible output format * automatic documenting at the element, page, and package level * full inherited documentation from parent classes with correct documentation of overridden methods and variables * automatic linking to inherited parent classes, methods, and variables * class trees with links to documentation * element indexes, both total and by package * the most advanced implementation of @see and {@link} out there for a PHP documentor * complete HOWTO and Tag Specification documentation, with release and available online at http://www.phpdoc.org * parsing into subdirectories for packages and subpackages * many more, see the documentation for information * of course, Open Source and GPL
