Can php-files have DOS-format?

We have the php-processor running on an Unix-machine with Apache
webserver. Many html-files contains php-code, and are written in
MSWindows environment. Is it important to convert these textfiles to
Unix format (line breaks with only ascii 10 instead of 13/10) when they
are published?
