Hi,
I've been using PHP for some time but don't have a lot of experience with handling memory consumed by PHP. I was wondering if it is worth using the unset() function in some places.
I have seen in the documentation, a lot of examples show that object instances are unset() when no longer being used. It seems that this is a way to force PHP's garbage collector to free the memory used by that reference. I am wondering if it's also a good idea to do this with other largish memory constructs, such as big arrays and whatnot.
Since I have no experience with C, manually handling memory is something that I am not familiar with. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Erik
