Yes, LOCK TABLE, but beware of inadvertdly forgot UNLOCKs , especially if
you are using persistent connections running PHP as Web server module, as
you may lock all other processes from accessing that table until the Web
server processes from which the lock was made ends.
You may want to use register_shutdown_function() to make sure that doesn't
happen and eventually warn yourself of a bug in your scripts.
