1. by default OCIExecute() does COMMIT_ON_SUCCESS (so you
don't have to commit at all!) - if you want to commit
yourself you have to do OCIExecute($stmt,OCI_DEFAULT) in your
script.
2. all outstanding transactions are rolled back at the end of
the script.

no - but it's considered "good-style";-)

you log-off from the DB -but- the server-connection will stay
open till the end of the script.
