sessions question

I'm trying to use sessions with a site containing lots of forms and header redirects.
I've got the trans-sid option enabled. Is there anything special I need to do so that when a
form is submitted that the php script that gets executed utilizes the current session and does not
create a new one? Same thing for header redirects of the type
header ("Location: blah.phtml");
